With the latest round of storms passing through, stream transparency took a hit around the area. As of May 31st, the South Branch of the Root River at the county 17 bridge in Preston had a reading of 37 cm this is suitable for fishing wet flies as well as lures. ideally you want 40 cm of visibility to fish your dry flies so the Root River is not far off, and you should be able to start fishing dry flies this weekend. Trout Run is looking good even with the thunderstorms that came through. As of May 31st, Trout Run at the bucksnort dam had a transparency reading of 81 cm. With this level of water clarity any type of fishing will be suitable. Mill creek got hit hard by the storms and as of May 31st at the county 2 bridge had a transparency reading of only 6cm. This stream is not fishable at this time and hopfully will clear up a little bit by the weekend.
