Despite the rainfall events of Thursday and Friday of this week, the river and stream conditions in and around Preston remain quite good. The S. Br. of the Root from Forrestville through Preston and out to the Old Barn is quite clear and running at about normal flows. Nat many hatches, but nymphing, terrestials or streamers should put you on fish. The smaller creeks are all in good shape in the southern part of the area. Trout Run is the exception, as it is highly stained and roiled, as are most of the streams north of I-90. The heavier rains in Rochester and Winona, pretty much insure that those streams are muddy. The N. Br. of the Root is muddy as is the Root below Lanesboro. I have not been down to Wisel or the S. Fork of the Root this week, but would guess that they are ok. Good Luck to all.
