During the last week virtually every stream or river in S.E Minnesota has improved to the point that all are in good to excellent condition. You will have no difficulty finding highly fishable waters. From the Whitewater system and throughout the Root River system you will find excellent water flows and great clarity. The only exception is the Root below Lanesboro and even there the situation is improving rapidly.
For early July, our temperatures are quite moderate and the stream temperatures reflect the cooler weather. All that is left is to get out and enjoy this gorgeous time of year. With no major hatches going on, fly selection remains a personal choice. Beetles, ants and hoppers will be popular over the next several weeks, but some of the old favorite attractor drys will also work. Nymphing is the best bet for success and now is the time for patience and practice.

Good Luck to all.
