The fast heavy rains that S.E Minnesota experienced on Thursday of this week have really created havoc with local water conditions. The major river drainages like the Root River or the Whitewater system are quite high and turbid. While the S. Branch of the Root here in Preston will probably clear by mid-week, the Root below Lanesboro may take a while longer.
The smaller spring fed creeks have all started to clear somewhat, to the point that streams like Gribben Creek, Trout Run or E. Beaver are all in great shape. While Duschee and Camp will continue to slowly improve.
Nymphing is probably your best bet. But using attractor patterns like grasshoppers or beetles will also catch fish.
Weather is predicted to be great over the next 10 days, so plan accordingly and get out and enjoy this late Summer fishing.
